Renaming won't be sufficient -- the fonts in question would need to be
moved out of !Fonts entirely (else, when they do get scanned, you'll just
get the machine crashing again).

For the timebeing, you'll have to isolate the fonts that cause problems and
move them out of !Fonts. Once you have isolated the problematic fonts,
please zip them up and email them to me (off list). We simply can't fix
this without the relevant data files.
