Hi, Karen. I've heard of people doing ZIP backups, and I've heard that
they're sometimes successful. Yeah, 98 disks is a pretty stiff amount
of magnetic media! One thing that you can do, if all you want to do is
backup your data, is to first clear the archive bits on every file on
your drive. This you can do by going to each directory and using the
ATTRIB command to do it. I think the syntax to clear the archive bits
on all of the files would be something like ATTRIB -A *.* but check the
DOS help documentation to make sure. Anyway, after you get the archive
bits cleared, go back through and set the archive bit on each file, one
by one, that you want to backup. Then, do an archive backup according
to the help available with MSBACKUP. I haven't used the program, so I
can't give you the syntax right now, but you can backup those files, and
those files only, with the archive bit set. Good luck and lots of
stamina. :-) Oh, btw, you can go through and use the ATTRIB command to
clear the archive bit of each file, one by one, that you *don't* want to
backup, and that may save you some time.
