Subject: Re: rotate dialing and a US Robotics modem
Constant - hadn't the manual any list of the modem registers and the
command to set them ? (If not, that's indeed a really bad manual...)
I don't know about the finer nuances with the USRs but I would suspect
that the settings would be something along the lines of a lot of
"Hayes compatible" modems (they are the same in four different manuals
for such and which lie around here):
at&Dn (with n=2 for "normal" ie. DSR drops DTR)
at&Kn (with n=3 for RTS/CTS flow control _en_abled, XON/XOFF _dis_abled;
both should be the normal condition)
Apparently the values for the corresponding settings are set wrongly in
the "active" profile which is taken from the one stored in non-volatile
RAM.
The same (various clone modems) all store the DTR and RTS settings the
same way in register S21; the byte there (shown in decimal by the
"show active profile" command, and by all of them with "at&V" in terminal
mode of any comm prog) is bit-mapped, with:
bit 2 set (=1) as CTS follows RTS (i.e. result of "at&K3")
bit 6 set (=1) as DTR drops with DSR (as after "at&D2")
Maybe the USRs have other commands, and/or oher register numbers to
store the respective settings, but the principle must be the same.
Remains just to find out which is which, <g>
