Subject: BugList #3 July 2001
Hey, guys! Since there's still some apparently interest in this,
the last BugList I compiled for Uncle Dave from this group is in
this message. Like before, I'm willing to solicit changes to this
list and resend them to Dave. To be honest tho, I don't use NT as
much as I used to. So I *really* need the feedback of the more
active users amongst us. ;-)
I know I didn't keep up with this the way I intended originally.
Between work related issues, and a recent relocation I'm in the
process of finishing, time has been my scarcest resource.
Hopefully, I'll be able to get my life back to some semblence of
normalcy and be more active around here again. :-)
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM Tom Burleigh <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Since inception of Net-Tamer READER, lines cut off after character
256 in a message's line messages and replying.
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM hammer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Net-Tamer deletes email on the ISP mailbox when it times out,
resulting in loss of email.
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM Walter Scott <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
When replying to CC email with ctrl-R, "/CC" is not placed after the
email address in the first line, like it is when a reply is
generated with R.
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM Walter Scott <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Experiences with Alt-ESC freezing Net-Tamer with F10 the only way to
get out. (From Tom: could this be due to a wait loop in the PPP
protocol waiting for something that never happens?) Worked
correctly in 1.08(slowly), 1.09(quickly), 1.10(quirky). Started in
1.11.2; is in latest beta.
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM Walter Scott <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
In palmtop version READER, header information getting garbled on
screen. (Ex., when the "Path:" line in a message is too long, that
text trails off onto the line below where other information is
subsequently but partially written over top of the trailing path
information)
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM Walter Scott <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Since palmtop version 1.09 READER, line 19, the line above the
status bar, remains blank instead of showing text from the web page
currently on the screen.
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM Walter Scott <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
In READER, when using the <W>rite command, a "References:" line is
created which duplicates the "References:" line of a previous
<R>eply.
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM Walter Scott <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Since version 1.10 READER. On non-VGA XT/286 CGA or EGA-equiped
systems, when using high intensity foreground colors, text flashes
in data entry fields.
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM Walter Scott<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Net-Tamer does not allow websites to use cookies previously dropped
on the user's hard drive by such websites in order to maintain
profile data. (i.e. cookies that contain the user's preferences or
account settings for a website) (We conceede that this may be a
wish list item depending on whether or not Net-Tamer is intended to
work this way.)
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM Walter Scott <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Form buttons do not properly expand for data field sizes and types.
(Ex.,highly qualified search requests activated by a GO button,
response to online polls, etc.)
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM Walter Scott <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Blank lines in messages are not quoted in replies.
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM Walter Scott <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
In READER at the delete older messages dialog box, Net-Tamer
interprets the ESC key as a signal to change the deletion default
and therefore causes the software to act on a YES default if a NO
default existed at the time the user pressed ESC. Pressing ESC
again on the number of messages to be deleted results in Net-Tamer
assuming ENTER has been pressed with the outcome that the numeric
value is accepted and deletion occurs.
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM Richard Ehrler <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
When a message is deleted in an indexed dlu or pru, last part of
previous message is deleted.
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM Richard Ehrler <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
In latest beta, g&s.exe included in zip file lock up Net-Tamer.
Problem workaround involves using g&s.exe from prior version.
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM Ken Scott <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Since NT 1.10.1, for online Telnet sessions, ctrl-key sequences
passed to remove computer take 8-10 seconds to be blasted across.
Makes using remote programs running on Telnet host fustrating, if
not impossible, to use.
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM "Mark @ Cross+Road's" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
When web browsing online, NT will stop after downloading a web page,
but resumes processing if [ESC] is pressed. (Suspect NT maybe
waiting for something from ISP that isn't happening.)
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM Tom Willmon <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
In READER, when making a quoted reply to a message that has
header-like text in the body of the message, this text and some
following text does not make it to the quoted reply. (Does this for
all editors.)
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM Tom Willmon <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
In READER, when viewing a message, UP arrow moves up two lines
instead of one. PAGE UP sometimes goes back two messages.
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM Walter Scott <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
In READER, message subject headers of some newly downloaded
messages are blank when the message is read. Deleting the .ieu
index file and reindexing restores header information to those
messages. This problem applies only when new messages are
downloaded to a .DLU file containing previously stored messages.
NOTE: This problem is intermittent; no known consistent causative
factors.
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM (Contributer lost.)
Net-Tamer external editor setup in user defaults, if you edit the
user defaults later on for any reason, the command line switch for
the external editor is lost when you save the revised settings.
This is true even though you have not selected "M" to change the
editor.
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM "Ronald C. Dailey" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
In the beta of 7-26-99, reports an ERROR-63 when trying to
access NETTAMER.DOC or any of the key files using F1, except in
READER.
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM Justin Philips <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
In message subject box, need some way to generate a blank subject
line. Some mail servers require nothing in the subject line which
means we must edit it before sending the message.
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM Justin Philips <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
The caracter "/" is not accepted in the message subject entry box.
BugList #1 August 1999
FROM Justin Philips <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
While replying to a message, you cannot press escape to bring up the
address list for additional receipients unless you deleted the
address that is pulled in there. Doing so only asks if you want to
add the address to the address list.
