SridharWe will find several such sites which open only on a proprietary browser or which provide downloads only in proprietary document formats or seek uploads in proprietary formats (like the Income Tax site which allows return filing only in .xls)
In many of these cases, the concerned department may not even be aware of FOSS and its advantages. And even if they are aware, it would always be helpful to make them that there is a considered point of view that they should not do so.
I suggest, in the interests of efficiently being to write to the hundreds of people managing such sites, we use/adapt/modify the templates in the letters attached (it can be put on our wiki and modified as required) and send off letters to the website manager and concerned departments. I think such letters could be shared on this site by any member who wishes to highlight the issue and then sent off on behalf of FOSSCOMM after say a gap of 48 hours for feedback etc.

Though writing a letter is not likely to resolve the issue, it would bring awareness about FOSS to many more people who may have not heard about FOSS at all. And writing letters asking people to adopt FOSS is one of FOSSCOMM's core activities :-) We can add these to the 'open letters' on our wiki as well.
