Yes, this is something we need to do on a regular basis. Can we draft 1) a letter to all universities in India pointing out the need to include only generic terms for software and the problems with naming specific, especially proprietary, applications in their curricula; 2) a letter to all ministries to mandate FOSS for e-governance and other applications, especially with security implications; 3) an appeal to all governments to use only free/open formats for documents they create and documents they accept; 4) another appeal to provide software they develop under a free licence? Sending separate letters for these purposes and sending one letter including all these, I think, each has its advantages. Perhaps, sending letters at regular intervals may have a greater impact.
