I am not arguing against the need for privacy, in the Internet or outside it. I just reacted to something that I found very incongruous, namely, taking nude photographs of oneself and putting them somewhere "out there". I found that rather strange and unusual. That is about all. > Your argument seems to be coming from Zuckerberg or Eric Schmidt, who > says there is no privacy on the internet. It is certainly necessary to have privacy in our email communication and other interactions, but it looks like that is not available easily to most people who are put off by even simple technology. Guess that is how these people had their photographs up there in the cloud. They just use what is available on the Internet and either don't have the time or the know-how to understand the problems and ways to overcome them. Even many of my former colleagues (remember, they are PhDs in science) didn't know how to create a document properly using a word processor, and never bothered to find out either! Some of them couldn't even set up an email account by themselves. I would say it is too much to expect many of these people to even realise the intricacies and the risks of using the Internet. I am sure someone else must have set up the email and other accounts for them, and probably have been using these services on their behalf too. Best, Sasi -- V.
