Hi Vikram,

  I agree the 'scientific socialism' that we had seen earlier had heavy
information reliance as you mentioned. And there were not enough
technology available at that time. Remember the Cybersyn project.   

I do agree information technology is a powerful tool that can help
improve our world. Old time Communist states may have done their job
better if they had these tools. 

However, technology is operated under a larger structure defined by some
isms. Both the isms old communist or capitalist define a structure that
does not have interest in human emancipation. Even with the technology
Soviet state would not have done better for people. Probably harmed
(BigBrother) 
(BTW I was told that in this year film festival of Kerala most films
from erstwhile soviet union told how better it was before breakdown) 

Once we redefine the structure, technology can work to help liberate.

So I appreciate your point on information technology and bureaucracy(a
social technology) not in isolation but within certain structure in
which it operated.
