Hi Vikram, I agree the 'scientific socialism' that we had seen earlier had heavy information reliance as you mentioned. And there were not enough technology available at that time. Remember the Cybersyn project.
I do agree information technology is a powerful tool that can help improve our world. Old time Communist states may have done their job better if they had these tools. However, technology is operated under a larger structure defined by some isms. Both the isms old communist or capitalist define a structure that does not have interest in human emancipation. Even with the technology Soviet state would not have done better for people. Probably harmed (BigBrother) (BTW I was told that in this year film festival of Kerala most films from erstwhile soviet union told how better it was before breakdown) Once we redefine the structure, technology can work to help liberate. So I appreciate your point on information technology and bureaucracy(a social technology) not in isolation but within certain structure in which it operated. THis article that I read some time back kind of develops your argument on bureaucracy http://thebaffler.com/salvos/of-flying-cars-and-the-declining-rate-of-profit On Thu, 2015-12-17 at 15:48 +0530, Vickram Crishna wrote: > > > On Thu, Dec 17, 2015 at 9:00 AM, Arun M <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi Vickram, > > I think the issue and central message of Sunde is bit more > deeper (I > am not assuming that you didnt get it).
