Hi,

I'm involved in a couple of research projects and from our
point of view, we would like to see the following

> * have to support tunnelling in software

Support for MPLS tunnels. This would include MPLS to
transport packets both at the IP and the Ethernet layer.
The MPLS magic is in many aspects similar to the
tunneling magic, so I wouldn't see too much of a
problem. The creation and management of MPLS
'tunnels' is done separately from the packet management
proper, either statically or using specific protocols
(LDP, OSPF-TE, etc.)

This would make (Open)Solaris our main (and only) development
platform, compared to today's situation where we have
to hop from one *BSD to another or Linux, depending
on the features we want to experiment on.
