There's more to it.

Some other Sun products make use of the Solaris DHCP code.  For example,
the Sun Ray code depends heavily on it.  It probably works with ISC as
well (when they ported to Linux), but I think it is not as tightly
integrated.

Frankly, the dhcpconfig/pntadm/dhtadm commands can be confusing... but
the dhcpmgr GUI, despite being written in Java, is not bad... it makes
it easy to define new macros, etc.

Any attempt to replace the Solaris DHCP code needs to consider the
impact on management UIs and other unbundled code.

One thought might be to provide pntadm/dhtadm/dhcpconfig wrappers that
edit ISC configuration files...
