To clarify, I didn't actually request it unless something was planning to
assume that drivers w/o VLAN support are "dumb" and can't do
checksums on VLAN frames.   This is not true in most cases.
I was mainly griping about this behavior in other OSes, and
commenting on how nice it was that GLDv3 didn't make this mistake.

I agree with Garrett, and I think that a software checksum "escape"
mechanism might be more generally useful.
