Aha! I turned off NWAM, as an error message in the GUI said it couldn't 
activate the network while NWAM was running, but I didn't think to do the 
"enable network." That did the trick. Thank you very much! Now to clean up the 
mangled files.

This should NEVER have been rolled into a release until it was at least half 
ready! We're trying to attract people TO OpenSolaris, not drive them away. If 
an old hand like me has trouble, how is a newcomer supposed to figure this out? 
A product (NWAM) that seems to do nothing and a GUI that does, in fact, do 
nothing but mangle files? sigh
rant off

Now to see how to get the Sun Ray software running again.
