The network adapter drops completely offline, IP's localhost and its
192.168.x.x address are pingable locally but not remotely. The inactivity
lasts for 30 minutes or an hour. Sometimes the network adapter does not
resume by itself and has to be restarted.

Things I've checked so far
- switches, nics and server copying from/to all have same MTU
- I do have jumbo frames enabled on the switches
- have tested the file copies to local OS drives setup as a CIFS share,
without the 3ware controller, just to rule out if 3ware's drivers are buggy
and causing weird issues
- I've also tested multiple network adapters, Realtek 8111, Broadcom, and
the Intel e1000, all of them exhibit the same behavior
