ok, somewhere there (i forget which tty) you should see atleast two
references to the nic, one for the driver and one for the ifconfig.
Do these showup? Sounds like just a little ethernet glitch, as the ftp
obviously works judgeing from the log file. Does the drive take a long
time to spin up, its rather common with local cd installs so i wouldn't
rule that out either. Maybe just Retry or copy it to the ftp servers HD.
