Yep, that's on tty3. I had to manually specify the settings, as the
autoprobe didn't work (it's on io 0x300, irq 5), but once I specified
those, it loaded the module and sets the parameters with no error
messages. The card is an Intel EtherExpress Pro 10BaseT, and it seems
to work fine with the Ballantain and FreeSCO distributions, which
indicates to me that it works with Linux OK (FreeSCO uses kernel 2.0.37;
I think Ballantain is 2.0.35; both of these can at least telnet with
this NIC).
It seems to me as though the client is making contact with the
server, but I can't figure out how to test that from tty2's shell, as
there aren't any obvious binaries there for ftp, ping, telnet, etc.
I've tried it several times, but I haven't (yet) tried copying the files
to the hard drive. I'll give that a try and see what happens, unless I
hear something that sounds a lot better. Thanks for the help.
