i have another isp for linux and the modem is on the computer i just built only running linux not on this computer and im not sure how to find out info about the modem on linux

Couple of things, sometimes it helps to quote the origanal poat in your
reply, and add your reply to the bottom so the top shows what was being
talked about in earlier messages, this is a big help for people who search
the archives andread the post at a later time when they have a problem.
next, are you on AOL? cause if you are, it may not matter about what modem
you have, AOL does not do linux, as I recall.
Next it is VERY important to have a better clue about what modem you have.
since you dual boot into windows to use OL, you should be able to glean much
more info from the device mangaler in M$windows (my Computer, right click,
properties, devices look for modem, highlite it and click "properties", I
think, it is from Memory, and as if it was not bad enough that I was born
male (and thus missing half my brain) but I donated the other half to the
military.
