The only two things you should have to do with your /etc/samba/smb.conf
is to make sure your workgroup name is setup correctly, and setup at
least the one share publicly.

Restart smb and you're good to go (or at least should be).

SMB/NMBD emulate netbios protocol - so for linux to see/touch/feel
Windows machines (or a Mac running DAVE), you're going to have to deal
with Samba.

EZ'ier way to deal with Samba is through Webmin and SWAT.
