Tx., I was confronted with a userbase that ONLY knew OS/2 and another
userbase that ONLY knew Solaris. Getting them to change to Windows was
unbelievably tough and excruciating - so in the same tone, it's only
what you're familiar with - when people are ONLY familiar with one
thing, any change that comes is hard - especially when they really don't
need to know about computers or programs or OS's.
I've had some great successes with selling linux based computers;
especially to either folks over 50 or kids under 20. To them, there
really isn't a learning curve - because it's all they know. The ages in
between are the hardest to deal with because they're the ones stuck in
the Windows rut (remember that a rut is a grave with both ends kicked
out of it)(g).
I'm just happy that my children use iMacs at school, Mac, linux and
Windows at home - and their perceptions of process and applications
aren't hampered by OS's at all - a job that needs to be done is done -
albeit differently, but same thing, with no quandary.
