Like instead of typing "vi /var/log/httpd/access_log", I might make a link in my home: ln -s /var/log/xferlog ~/ftplog That creates the file ~/ftplog, which is not a real file, it's just pointing to /var/log/xferlog. "vi ~/ftplog" saves me a few keystrokes. You got it right. I want the output of fortune to go into a text file called .signature. Why the hell it got the .sxw extension is beyond me, but thats what evolution put there IIRC (I was pretty stoned so that may not be entirely accurate!).
I borrowed Charles script. Where I got the idea for the link was from Stephens sig code. Now was I wrong to even think that? Do I need a link? Or .. can I just use Charles sig code "as is", and stick it in /usr/bin (as that is what he did, then made it executable. My .signature file is executable as I thought that sounded correct.).
Um...ya ... Sigh more fonfuxed than ever... heh. Ideas? Map? Compass? n/m those wouldn't help anyway.
