Hi, When I first tried installing XP on this thing, I called the tech support. The guy I spoke to told me that when he installs XP he disconnects everything - right down to modems, video cards, etc - before "attempting" the install. I figure if you have to be a Philadelphia Lawyer to install it, they can keep it!
The thing from HP about "disconnect all peripherals" not including the monitor - That's like the message "Keyboard not found. Press F1 ..." Do not insert any discs into the HP Pavilion before starting. Disconnect all peripherals from the PC, except the keyboard and mouse. 2.) Turn the computer on and press the F1 key when the first blue screen appears. 3.) Press the RIGHT arrow key until Boot is highlighted. 4.) Press the DOWN arrow key until Boot Device Priority is highlighted. 5.) Press the ENTER key, then press the DOWN arrow and highlight the listed CD-ROM drive. 6.) Press the PLUS (+) key until the CD-ROM is at the top of the list. 7.) Insert the first recovery disc into the CD-ROM drive. 8.) Press the F10 key, and press ENTER to save settings and exit. 9.) Read the screens that appear. Press the desired keys and insert the remaining discs, in order, when prompted. ____________________________________ I wonder why "Disconnect all peripherals from the PC, except the keyboard and mouse", and obviously they don't think the monitor is a "peripheral". ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- > Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? > Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com >
