Go ahead and dial in as you normally do.  Once in, check the /etc/resolv.conf 
file for name servers.  You should see the dns servers for your local ISP in 
that file.  They will be IP addresses.  If you don't see any IP addresses or 
if all you see is 127.0.0.1, then you know that there is a problem with the 
dhcp client setting dns servers.

If you confirm that is the problem, there is a network configuration panel 
that you can use to confirm that the interface for the dialup connection is 
set to pull dns from the dhcp server.  To disable zeroconf, make sure that 
tmdns process is stopped and set to not activate on boot.
