I'm not in the clear what your linux-secure option is...did you install the
secure kernel as well?

If you're booted into a windowmanager, open a virtual console (rxvt) or xterm.
Become su/root and type "init 3" and login as root. to get back in the window,
"exit" as root, login as the user you are and "startx".......or just reboot:)

In init 3 you'll still have your internet connection running and the
nvidia-install script will get the kernel modules for you.

To be able to compile these modules you'll need the kernel-headers (among
others) which can gotten by installing the kernel-source for the kernel you
are running.
Type "uname -r" (thanks Charlie;)) to see what kernel you're using if you
aren't sure.
"urpmi kernel-source" as su/root
will offer the available rpms.

Choose the one you need and run everything nvidia needs.

Good luck,
HarM
