Hi Thanks for your reply

My Hardware

Motherboard: Abit BH6 - BIOS Update just before installing Linux
Abit web site said that this had to be done to make it linux
compatable.

RAM : 218 MB I should have 320 MB but the one SDRAM DIMM that was
in a box labled as 256mb PC133 168 pin unbuffered non-ecc may not
be as labled

   CPU : Pentium !!! (Katmal} - 450 MHz - BIOS set to turbo running
at 461.2

Connection : DSL ISP = SBCGlobal supplied SpeedStream 5360
Ethernet ADSL Modem - This was not much problem setting with linux
and is work good.

   Hard disk :
Device hda1 = 10 GB Western Digital AC310100B - No problems here
Mount point: / Journslised FS: ext3 5.5 GB - swap 494 MB /home
3.4GB

Device: hdc1 = 1.2 GB Quantum FIREBALL1280A - No problems here
Mount point: /mnt/windows

Device: sdb = 120 GB Cypress Semiconductor USB 2.0 External Hard
Drive
Problems: Sometimes mounts to /mnt/removable
sometimes to /mnt/memory_card one time to /mnt/removable2
my USB setup is for USB 1.0 this give me only 12 MB/sec. transfer
rate. with USB 2.0 it would be up to 480 MB/sec. Hopping I just
need to install a driver to get up to speed. But then this may take
some hardware I do not have at this time.

Other Drives & Storage:
ImageMate CompactFlash USB
Problems: Sometimes mounts to /mnt/removable
sometimes to /mnt/memory_card

Device: sda4 = IOMEGA ZIP 100 Mount point: /mnt/zip
Can not read or write disk. I have not used this for about 3 years
but do have some old back up files that I do need soon.

Device: fd0 = Floppy disk drive Mount point: /mnt/floppy
Problem Does not auto mount

Device: hdd = Vendor IC35L120 Model AVV207-0 /mnt/cdrom
This is working

 CD burner : SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-408B
(disconnected causes system lockups)

 Video card : Trident 3DImage985 - 2 MB
Working good

Sound card : ESS Technology ES1869 Plug and Play AudioDrive (WDM)
(Not working with this setup)

Network : Intel(R) PRO/100+ Management Adapter
D-Link Inc. DFE 538 TX

Modem: U.S. Robotics 56K FAX INT PnP
(Not working with this setup is not detected)

With Red Hat and Mandrake I had Problems with.
wine and Mandrake update. But thanks to deedee this problem problem
has been fixed

Below is a list of hardware I have tried so that I could run linux.
2 CD burners = 1 locks up the system the other would not read.
3 cdroms = where not detected I could not find any linux info for
these
3 modems = 1 U.S. Robotics 56k Fax modem. 2 = older modems
Zip Drive = will not read or write disks
USB Flash Card reader = Some times mounts to /mnt/removable
sometimes to /mnt/memory_card
USB External Hard Drive = Some times mounts to /mnt/removable
sometimes to /mnt/memory_card
Sound card worked with Red Hat after setting it up. Have not been
able to get it to work With Mandrake.
