I think the problem with default ALSA driver lies when Mandrake's hardware detection cuts 'alias' line in modules.conf in Mandrake10.0RC1.
Hmm, I wonder why? I certainly don't want my via8233 soundchip non functional in M10 when I get there.
did you use the same alias line as my example ?
