Consider those of us who live in never never land where computers are not common and linux users are rare. Where do you go for help to even get online. Mandrake 9.2 was the first dist I ever tried (outside of windows) that worked well enough to do that.

This is a true point - hence the reason to cultivate MORE linux users and spread them far and wide around the world. WE MUST CONQUER. Aside from that you can fly me to you location and I'll be more than happy to give ya a hand with whatever you need ala linux; as long as you don't mind me eating y'all's food, drinking all yer beer, farting and scratching myself all the while.
NAH NAH NAH - look, you'd be surprised that the LUG's that are starting up (Linux User Groups); they're springing up all over the place - and documentation can be had by Googling and searching. And to top it off, you've got troops like this here Mandrake list that are always more than hellful, er, helpful with doling out advice and tips'n'hints - so it ain't like yer stuck on a jumbuck - you can access the info from the Windows-side of life to make the linux-side work if ya gets stuck.
AND, if you live in Australia, you can call: 1-902-225-000 which is the OzIT Support line (you pay via your phone bill) and you'll get ME on the line...dig that...(grin)

Hoyt
