Hi, I've been spending 2 weeks trying to install my 3Com 3CXe589E PCMCIA
ETHERNET CARD on a TOSHIBA 2500CDS with MANDRAKE 7.0, and just can't do it.
FIRST, at linux installation (when it asks if you want to configure the
net),it recognizes the card and actually it is supposed to make it work in
order to download something (crypt...) from an ftp site. It says pcmcia
probe found 1 net devices, found driver for 3c589_cs....
....insmod /modules/pcmcia_core.o.........insmod/modules/3c589_cs.o
............... it finishes installing linux succesfully and restarts..
WHEN it tries to find module dependencies it shows nothing about pcmcia, and
when it comes up to network inicialization it says:
network inicialization delayed.......[failed]
AFTER logging in, if I run "cardctl ident" it says "no pcmcia driver in
/proc/devices", and when I run "cardctl config" it says the same thing, when
it is supposed to say something about the cards it detects.
WHAT i think is that this kernel version (2.2.14-1mdklinus) does't support
pcmcia or at list doesn't have the correct modules, because it doesn't even
have a "pcmcia" subdirectory (/lib/modules/2.2.14-1mdklinus/pcmcia) where i
can find "pcmcia_core.o" and "3c589_cs.o" in order to run:
"insmod [directory] pcmcia_core.o"
What I tried is:
insmod /lib/modules/2.2.14-12mdk/pcmcia/pcmcia_core.o, and the answer was:
"kernel-module version mismatch
/lib/modules/2.2.14-12mdk/pcmcia/pcmcia_core.o was compiled for kernel
version 2.2.14-15mdk while this kernel is version 2.2.14-1mdklinus"
BUT THE PROBLEM IS THAT MY VERSION (2.2.14-1mdklinus) DOES NOT HAVE ANYTHING
LIKE "pcmcia_core.o" or "3c589_cs.o" IN ITS LIBRARIES.

PLEASE HELP ME !!!!!!!!!!!
