bascule....ok, so the system boots just fine into windows whan
you set the bios to boot off the IDE drive, correct? If so, I'd
recommend that you:

1) use your floppy to boot up in linux and (as root) edit the
first line of your /etc/lilo.conf file from:

boot=/dev/sda

to:

boot=/dev/sda1

2) in a console (as root) type /sbin/lilo

3) boot up in windows and install BootMagic

BootMagic will overwrite your hda mbr with it's own boot
manager, but this can easily be reversed in two different ways:

1) uncheck the activate box in the BootMagic configuration
program

or:

2) boot up with any floppy that boots into dos mode (like a
windows rescue floppy) and contains the dos fdisk program and at
the command line type:

fdisk /mbr

Either 1 or 2 above will restore your hda mbr to regular windows
status.

Anyway, BootMagic should find both your Linux and windows
installations and allow you to boot either one of them. If not,
the above instructions will restre your hda mbr to work as
before.
