Pull up one of the terminals in either KDE or GNOME or whatever you use.  Then in the terminal styp "su" so you become the superuser and then type "sndconfig" It should automatically configure it for you and give you sound.  I had the same problem and ran sndconfig and it works great.  BTW  I am really impressed with the SBLive drivers for linux.  They are really nice.

I have just installed mandrake 7.1 and my sound doesn't work. I had 7.0 and my soound worked just fine any ideas?
