Mark, I have had that message before and it seems to really mean that
you have the wrong ttsy? chosen or the wrong dev. If you have Kppp and
have left configured at dev/modem, you should change it to the actual
/dev/ttys? that it is. If you are dual booting then check the Widows
device manager to get the COM port your modem is on. Then in the
configuration for KPPP set the /dev/ttys? to a comparable setting. In
linus COM 1 = ttys0, COM 2 = ttys1 etc. If I am not clear here or you
already know this, sorry, let us know and we will try again. There are
some very articulate folks on this list who can probably say it better,
