Mark I had a simular problem with an external modem and was able to fix it by the following. Open kppp/setup/modem and then Modem Commands. Use the slider control to increase Pre-Init Delay from 50 to 100 and also increase Post-Init Delay from 50 to 100. Good luck Charles
