As mentioned elswhere the ALI chipset has not exactly been enthusiastically reviewed. Currently the best performing chipset is now the VIA KT266A. This chipset has only just been released as a replacement for KT266 which had disappointing reviews (but still better than ALI) There are many MOBO's available for KT266A, but check to make sure you are not being offered the older KT266 (they are pin compatible) The next best chipset is the SIS735 (which is the one I have just bought) This has the advantage of being the cheapest chipset, and the (now) second best performing.
