The bootable flag just lets the BIOS know which hard drive to give control 
to.  It does not effect a partition's ability to boot an OS.

The Win2000 NT Loader is very tenacious-- it's not going to give up control 
just because you have LILO installed on another partition.

The driver was necessary for 2.2 kernels but the module for running the 
Promise ATA100 controller is included with 2.4 kernels (including LM8.x).
