   I attached a glxgears and glxinfo from my system running an
AGP Radeon 32DDR.

If you will compare the sections from yours that I left above to mine
you will see a big difference.

That is what I believe is causing your difficulties. 
During hardware set-up/video dection the Radeon is found, but it is found
in an unexpected location causing the proper driver module not to be loaded.
Afraid I can not tell you how to manuaally load it.

Your best bet, if no one else on the list has a solution, is to check the
MOBO site and ATI. 
ATI has released all their drivers for linux so it would the first place  
I would check.
