#It doesn't matter which port you connect to. And a silly question :
#Do you have services *hal* and *messagebus* running ?
#Furthermore : *urpmi usbview*.

Rosemary, I've had the same problem since I brought this machine with mdk 9.0
installed. Initially it would not recognise my camera (kodak DC3200, serial
port) so got a DSE xh6747 card reader and although M$ would read the card Mdk
would not, and still does not read the CF (compact flash) card. After seeing
Kaj's response I started the services he mentioned but still no luck. I then
tried the MMC/SD card that the new camera (Kodak CX7330) uses and that is read
fine, whether or not 'hal' and/or 'messagebus' are running.

My conculsion - Mdk is not recognising the formating used by the Kodak DC3200
camera.
