You may want to look at what Good Will or The Salvation Army has on
hand. You may also want to check at work. You may be able to pick up a
second system without having to spend a lot. It will not be the "latest
and greatest", but you don't need that for a system to play around with.
It is not unusual for a company to let employies have computers for the
cost of the cleaning the hard drive.
