No the gate way is your router and that is 192.168.1.1 as your PCLOS 
configuration shows. So you need
GATEWAY=192.168.1.1

you should not need the 'GATEWAYDEV=eth0' line unless you had two NICs on your 
computer both on the same subnet.
Check to make sure that /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 is the ONLY 
configuration file present. If you have other interfaces defined even if they 
are not present then it could be confusing the system.

You do not need shorewall if your router is providing adequate firewall 
protection. Some people like having two firewalls, but it should not be 
necessary.

There is no magic at work here. There will be a very clear and probably simple 
reason why your networking is broken. Once you have found it it will seem 
obvious. I would hang in and get to the bottom.
