Frank, you don't have to use vmlinuz.img and initrd.img at all if you don't 
want to.  There's a lot to be said for putting the actual kernel names in 
there - check the syntax from other entries.  At least, it works with 
different kernels for Mandrake, so I presume it would work for you.
