Seems I'm not out of the wood yet. All I'm getting is the following:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] anne]$ cdrecord -v -eject speed=4 dev=ATA:1,1,0 -dao >
Mandriva-Linux-2005-Limited-Edition-CD6.i586.iso
scsidev: 'ATA:1,1,0'
devname: 'ATA'
scsibus: 1 target: 1 lun: 0

Linux sg driver version: 3.5.27
cdrecord: Warning: using inofficial libscg transport code version
(warly-Mandrakelinux-scsi-linux-sg '@(#)scsi-linux-sg.c 1.83 04/05/20
Copyright 1997 J. Schilling').
SCSI buffer size: 64512

Then it returns to the prompt and the drive opens.

Could it be that the syntax has changed between versions?
