Dell Denmark will not sell you a laptop without an OS. When
asked why not, they claim that it's a "contractual clause".
Then - after a long pause - the man said : "...but we can sell
you a laptop with a rudimentary DOS pre-installed. In that
case it'll be able to boot and you'll save DKr 186 ($30).

So I figure $30 is the Microsnot tax.

I was under the impression that it was much higher, something greater than
$100 for XP. Maybe it's MS-DOS they're putting on, and still charging a
royalty, just a smaller one. I could be wrong though.

I thought at one time they was selling desktops or laptops with freedos disc for those that wanted no OS on the computer. Have they stopped giving freedos with it to sell you MS-Dos so Microsoft still gets paid....

Maybe if someone wants a computer can ask for the freedos and not MS-Dos or windows..
