Whoops! sorry, I wasn't clear. <interface> should be replaced by the interface you want to look at, but what you got with ifconfig tells the story: you've got a connection and an ip address using ppp, and ethernet isn't running (you can ignore lo for the moment). Your ppp connection is working - can you fire up your browser and see whether it connects? > "ifconfig" alone gives > lo Link encap:Local Loopback > inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 > UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 > RX packets:136 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 > TX packets:136 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 > collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 > RX bytes:23898 (23.3 KiB) TX bytes:23898 (23.3 KiB) > > ppp0 Link encap:Point-to-Point Protocol > inet addr:203.164.180.16 P-t-P:203.164.180.254 > Mask:255.255.255.255 > UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 > RX packets:247 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 > TX packets:223 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 > collisions:0 txqueuelen:3 > RX bytes:89837 (87.7 KiB) TX bytes:28244 (27.5 KiB) I take it it's the *other* machine that has ethernet. If you can get connected on this one, with the USB connection, you can maybe use ethernet between this machine and the other machine to get your network set up. Still trying to download the specs - be a little while, doing a big update.
