OK. A file mangler is what ? apart from something I didn't know I needed, that is.
Using a term you might find that there are actually files there - backing up
the entire directory tree is an option...
The entire directory tree under /.thunderbird appears to be empty. Lots
of files that are empty or nearly so. Nothing bigger than 4.8 kB.
