Like everything, you pays your money and makes your choice. There's been a few changes in the short period of 2 years though. The current stable version is 2005LE, but 2006 isn't too far away. 2005LE can be downloaded, or CDs bought cheaply from many places. If you like the distro it's probably better to join the club than buy a pack. http://www.linux-laptop.net/ (The 'linux on laptops' site ) links to: http://www.ratna-lab.ch/papers/hp-pavilion-3000/ which recounts one persons experience of installing SuSE 9.1 on your machine - seems straightforward - which means that just about any distro should be OK. I don't know how SuSE's WLAN setup compares to Mandrakes, they possibly have the edge (judging by this account). Also there's no mention of the modem - that may be difficult under Linux. Like anything, you pays your money and makes your choice. There's been a few changes in the short period of 2 years though. Hope this helps. -- "Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the President to explain to us what the exit strategy is." --Texas Governor George W.
