With 8.2 you're going to run into driver problems, hardware compatibility 
problems - to name a few. I would honestly think about either downloading the 
2006 CD's that are available and upgrade them after 2006 is fully released 
(which can be done online very simply), or just hold off and wait. If you 
spend more than 30 minutes fighting with an unsupported, older version of 
Mandrake/Mandriva, you're kinda wasting your time.

If you want to give it a go, you should be able to (as root) run XFdrake and 
see if you can get SOME kind of recognition to basically get your X up and 
running...but I'd heed the advice stated above...
