The easy way:
. open your root folder in nautilus / konqueror / the file manager of
your choice. This means: open the / folder, you should see inside it
(at least) a folder called /home. This is your home folder, it
contains the personal data for your users
. copy the home folder somewhere else (a different disc or partition), OR
. make a cd / dvd out of it. This might not be possible if the size of
the folder is too much (e.g. the folder weighs more than can fit on a
dvd)

This depends of course on having a place with enough free space to put
the stuff.
