The squeezebox does not come with any adapters for your PC. Don't get a
wireless adapter for your PC. It is hard, often impossible to get a
wireless adapter in a PC to work as a wireless access point. It is a lot
easier to just get a wireless router that is made for that job.

What you will need is a 'Wireless Router'. The wireless router will plug
into the Ethernet port on your computer, using a standard Cat. 5 cable.
Your cable modem or DSL modem will plug into the 'WAN' jack on the
wireless router, using another Cat.5 cable. I would suggest a Linksys
WRT54G or WRT54GS. (The GS supports higher wireless speeds but is about
$20 more) This device will work as a router/firewall to protect your
network from the internet connection that the cable modem or DSL modem
represents, as well as provide you with a wireless LAN. (Local area network)

If you don't have an Ethernet port on your computer, you will need to
get a card for one. You can find 3Com 3C905/3C905B/3C905TX PCI cards
pretty cheap, especially used. (they have been making them for years and
they are well supported)

You probably already have an Ethernet port on your computer, and are
using it to get on the internet right?

The wireless-router ties into the network connection (Ethernet) between
your computer and cable modem or DSL modem.

You have two separate tasks that you have to accomplish here.

1) Setup a wireless network for yourself using a wireless router.

2) Follow the directions that come with the Squeezebox to make it work
on your network, and to download/install the slimserver software.

Number two is pretty easy. If you are unfamiliar with setting up a small
network, you may want to get a friend to help you with number 1. The
instructions that come with the Linksys are pretty good though.

Hope that helps.

You can contact me off-list if you are still confused after you get the
squeezebox and wireless router, and have read all of the directions.

We all had to struggle to learn this stuff the first time. :-)
