Sorry, the echo thing is just telling us the error associated, 0
being _no_errors_, but I can't find any reference to 245 ...

huh, i was hoping this may tell us ... 
Google shows alot about this, but it isnt a specific error
message. SDL seems to run quite a few things under the covers of games.
One fix was about artsd not playing nice with it. May also be a
sound error, here's the link:

Some other questions,
Can you run it as root ?  do other games work ?

Can you run glxgears ?
what type of video card do you have

maybe we'll find this yet ;)
