Right, it was a security update. I have now installed the 2.6.12-17 kernel and 
kernel source and nvidia-dkms packages and still get the message about 
nvidia.ko file not found maybe my kernel source is not correct, etc. 
I had this problem in the past and it is a bummer. I think that Mandriva needs 
to figure out how to do the process so that all is updated and the nvidia 
driver is able to load on command.  Something is missing here.
