Hi,
It looks like that the CD1 in the torrent is messed up. It seems that he
hdlists file is in the correct place but its contents is not the same as
in the mirror
"ftp://ftp.cise.ufl.edu/pub/mirrors/mandrake/Mandrakelinux/official/2006.0/i586/media/media_info/hdlists";.
The contents of the hdlists file on the mirror is:
hdlist_main.cz media/main Main (3400m)
noauto:hdlist_main.src.cz ../SRPMS/main Main Sources
hdlist_contrib.cz media/contrib Contrib (4300m)
noauto:hdlist_contrib.src.cz ../SRPMS/contrib Contrib Sources
noauto:hdlist_jpackage.cz media/jpackage Jpackage (360m)
noauto:hdlist_jpackage.src.cz ../SRPMS/jpackage Jpackage Sources
The torrented hdlists file contains:
suppl
askmedia
hdlist1.cz media/main Installation Free CD1 (547m)
hdlist2.cz media/main2 Installation Free CD2 (694m)
hdlist3.cz media/main3 Installation Free CD3 (695m)
Should there be such a discrepancy?

Just making a few assumptions, sounds like you didn't burn the ISOs
right. I can't remember what I used but you can google "burn ISO" and
it should return something (w\o ""'s.)
