This is it for sure, as googling confirmed. One might have thought that
the magazine might have tested it first - or at least made it clear that
it was a beta. If they had, I probably would have left it alone.

Er, that looks a bit complicated. Upgrading kernels is something I've
never got into before. Is there an easy to understand guide available
anywhere? I've reinstalled 2006 for the time being. Doing that's bit of
a pain but at least I have a system that more or less functions again.

dude, if you dont have the beta copy, consider instaling a newer drive as the one you have have is going bad on you if you arent using hte beta copy and have an old drive
