I do this all the time, and it was very simple to set to. I simply installed 
postfix, 
and modified just these 3 lines in main.cf:

myhostname = FQDN of my machine (e.g. xxxx.aptec.com)
mydomain = aptec.com
relayhost = FQDN of exchange server (e.g. aaaa.bbbb.aptec.com)
